If you are accessing sites from Google Calendar, Twitter, LinkedIn, Yahoo Mail etc. from a personal computer, then you probably use the “Remember me” option so that you do not type the user name and password each time you come in Lying place.

Internally, Firefox uses cookies that are set to expire after a long period and thus you are automatically signed in to your favorite website without re-entering the password.

As you can guess, this “logging out” issue is actually related to cookies in Firefox. Either your cookie database is corrupted or the browser is unable to save them, here are some things you can do to fix the problem:

Option 1: Go to Tools -> Clear Recent History and clear cookies for “Entire History”

Option 2: It is possible that you have set Firefox to not miss cookies and therefore you are logging off every time you close the browser. Go to Tools -> Options -> Privacy and make sure that you have “unchecked your personal data when I close Firefox”.

Option 3: Under the same Privacy tab, make sure that the following settings are true – “Accept third party cookies” and “Unless they are finished”. If you prefer to keep Firefox logged in for a very long time, try this Greasemonkey script as it determines the end date of cookie by 2050.

Option 4: Close your Firefox browser and open the profile folder – just type “% APPDATA% MozillaFirefoxProfiles” in the Windows Run box and press Enter. Double-click the profile folder (xxxxxxxx.default) folder and delete the cookies. Restart Firefox – This cookie will recreate the database and the browser should now be able to remember your login preferences.

Option 5: If nothing does not work, then your last resort is to create a fresh profile through Firefox Manager in Firefox. Type “firefox.exe -ProfileManager” in the Start -> Run dialog and follow the wizard.
