What to Do When Things Go Wrong in Your Computer? Computer Tips and Tricks
Updating your computer using automatic updates, or manually checking updates, is the preferred method of getting updates. Occasionally, however, the computer, security software, or connection problem may prevent scanning or installation of updates.
When this happens, here are some things you can try: Computer Tips and Tricks
If you have automatic updates turned on but some updates have failed, try manually scanning for updates. This can sometimes fix the problem.
Make sure your computer is virus-free and malware-free. Run your antivirus and antispyware scanner before running Windows updates.
Close all your programs, and restart your computer. It is possible that another program may prevent Windows Update from working.
Check your Internet connection. Make sure you can go to other websites before running Windows Update. Connection problems can trigger errors that may be due to other factors.
If you have the necessary service address, such as a service pack or security update, you can search the Microsoft website. Most of the updates also contain knowledge based articles (KB) which tells the update, and most of the updates provide manual instructions for downloading and installing.
If nothing does not work, you can visit the Microsoft Update Solutions Center website to request support by e-mail.
