The Windows key, usually collides between your left ALT and CTRL key, is a very versatile key. Apart from the obvious “Start menu” feature, here are some other uses that you know or do not know.

  • Windows: Start Menu
  • Windows + R: Run dialog box
  • Windows + M: Reduce All
  • Shift + Windows + M: at least undo all
  • Windows + F1: Help
  • Windows + E: Windows Explorer
  • Windows + F: Find files or folders
  • Windows + D: reduces all open windows and displays the desktop
  • CTRL + Windows + F: Find Computer
  • CTRL + Windows + TAB: launches focus on Quick Launch toolbar from the start of the system tray
  • Windows + Tab: Cycle through the taskbar button
  • Windows + Brake: System Properties dialog box

Note that if you do not have a Windows key, you can do the key combination with CTRL + Esc.
