How Do You Watch Videos During Multi-Tasking?
You are planning to watch a long video clip on YouTube but the problem is that you have a lot of things and therefore only one video can be ignored. You need to browse the web page, check email in Outlook and complete the presentation while playing the video on your screen.
Fortunately, it is possible with a simple hack – just decide where the video should be placed.
You can either watch YouTube videos from the Firefox Sidebar or if you are working with other applications or do not use Firefox, you can create a standalone YouTube player window and always take it anywhere in the top mode on the desktop.
Case 1. The YouTube player inside the Firefox Sidebar
Case 2. YouTube Player at the top of other windows
Here are the steps involved for any one of the above discussed methods.
- Get full screen mode address of YouTube video clip. This is something like www.youtube.com/v/ABC where ABC is YouTube Video ID.
2a. To view videos in the Firefox sidebar, bookmark that new YouTube address and check the “load in sidebar” property of the bookmark shown in the screenshot.
2b: To watch videos in a standalone player, open a new browser window and copy-paste the YouTube address that you generated in step 1. Now change the browser window again, always activate the top program. And to ensure that the YouTube player lives in the foreground, press Ctrl + Spacebar
